The Career Of An Ob / Gyn - 1296 Words

Eric Hoffer once said, â€Å"One of the marks of a truly vigorous society is the ability to dispense with passion as a midwife of action - the ability to pass directly from thought to action.† The reason someone would pick this occupation is because they feel that giving a person or family a chance of hope to have a child is extraordinary and give women a chance to have full control and knowledge of what s going on inside of their bodies. And how they will endure spontaneous and thrillful days. The career of an Ob/Gyn is a thrilling and exciting career because one will never have a dull moment. This research will describe the career of Ob/Gyn what is required to become a successful Ob/Gyn, and the impact this career has on society. The history of Ob/Gyn care was provided by the woman s mother or a female relative, the males were not allowed in the delivery room while the mother is giving birth. This took place during the Greek and Roman times and gradually traveled to the United States. Until the 17th century in France, where they established male midwives, still women have dominated the career in Ob/Gyn care with a 70.3% of residency while males are the minority with a 64% in this career field. Midwives functioned as respected care providers for women.
